The International Organization for Migration (IOM) says that children returning from neighboring countries are receiving polio vaccinations at border crossings.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 29, the organization said that in cooperation with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, it is also delivering life-saving vaccines to remote areas of Afghanistan.
According to the IOM, these efforts help protect thousands of children and women.
The organization added that since December 2023, vaccines have been provided to thousands of women and children across Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the Polio-Free Afghanistan initiative has emphasized that all travelers at Afghanistan’s borders must receive vaccinations before entering the country.
