Qatari mediators have arrived in Tehran as part of efforts to reach an agreement between the United States and Iran.
Reuters reported on Friday, October 30, citing a source familiar with the matter, that the talks are being coordinated with the United States.
According to the source, Qatar had presented Iran with a draft peace proposal on Sunday. However, a senior Iranian official described the proposals as unacceptable and said Tehran would maintain its nuclear position.
Washington wants Iran’s nuclear programme to be included from the outset of negotiations, while Tehran is demanding that the United States end its blockade of Iranian ports and lift sanctions on its oil exports.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Tehran remained in close contact with mediators to review proposals aimed at ensuring the implementation of its own seven-day plan to end the war in the Middle East.
US President Donald Trump also said on Thursday that contacts between his Vice President, JD Vance, and Iran concerned medical supplies.
His remarks came after US media reports linked the contacts to efforts to revive peace negotiations.
