Mawlawi Abdul Hameed Ismail Zahi, a Sunni Iranian imam, has questioned the Taliban’s decision over the closure of girls’ education above the sixth grade and said that the Taliban rulers must present their reason based on the Sharia why they have deprived girls of education.
Speaking on Friday, Mawlawi Ismail criticized the Taliban’s policy over girls’ education and asked: “You [Taliban] on which decree of Sharia prevented girls from education? Who has told you [Taliban] to deprive girls of education?
He has advised the Taliban that the girls’ university should be reopened before the male students’ university, saying that women have talent and they are eager to learn higher education.
It has been more than 400 days since the Taliban excluded female students from secondary and higher education, as well as the group has banned women from social, cultural and economic fields.
