With financial support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), work has begun on the reconstruction of four water supply networks in Parwan Province for 7.9 million Afghanis.
Bokhtar News Agency reported on Sunday, September 20, that the networks will be reconstructed in Qumghi village of Sheikh Ali District, Sufi Khel village of Shinwari District, and the Dawlat Shahi and Muhajireen townships of Bagram District.
According to the report, the reconstruction work is expected to be completed within four months.
The Taliban have said that upon completion of the projects, 1,156 families will gain access to drinking water.
This comes as many people in Afghanistan, particularly in rural areas, lack access to safe drinking water and are forced to travel long distances to obtain clean water.
