Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s president, has expressed support for returning to the Islamabad Memorandum, which was signed between the United States and Iran through Pakistan’s mediation.
Pezeshkian wrote on X on Friday night, Sept. 25, that Iran emphasizes the importance of returning to the memorandum and creating the necessary conditions for serious negotiations to move forward.
He said he appreciated Chinese President Xi Jinping’s support for returning to the Islamabad Memorandum to resolve differences through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Iranian president said: “Iran shares this approach and emphasizes the importance of returning to that understanding, respecting previously agreed commitments, and creating the necessary conditions for advancing serious, substantive and results-oriented negotiations.”
Meanwhile, Iran and the United States have accused each other of violating the Islamabad Memorandum and have engaged in several rounds of military conflict since it was signed in June.
