Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, described Germany’s accusation that Moscow was involved in the drone incident at Leipzig Airport as the “beginning of a real war” with the West.
The Telegraph reported on Sunday, September 6, that Germany holds Russia responsible for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport.
Lavrov described Germany’s recent actions against Russia, including the closure of a Russian consulate and cultural center, as signs of escalating tensions and compared them with developments preceding World War II.
Berlin, meanwhile, has stood by its assessment of Russia’s alleged involvement in the incident and is strengthening security measures to counter drone threats.
Lavrov’s remarks about the possibility of a “real war” with the West have heightened concerns over escalating tensions between Russia and European countries.
