In the past month, nearly 54,000 Afghan refugees have been forcibly deported or voluntarily returned to Afghanistan from Iran, according to local sources in the Nimruz province.
Sources revealed to Hasht-e Subh on Tuesday, April 25, that during this period, 53,999 Afghan refugees, including families and individuals, were forced out of Iran and returned to their home country.
Many of these refugees were reportedly deported against their will and crossed the border through the Nimruz province into Afghanistan.
It appears that the deportation of Afghan refugees from Iran has been increasing in recent months, with 61,343 refugees being forced out of Iran or voluntarily returning to Afghanistan via the Nimruz province border crossing from 20 February to 20 March.
This ongoing mass deportation is causing concern among human rights organizations, who are urging both governments to ensure that the rights of refugees are respected and protected.
