Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation says that 345 Afghan migrants have been released from prisons in Pakistan.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 1, 2026, the ministry said the individuals returned to Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak border crossing.
According to Taliban officials, the migrants had spent between one and two months in detention.
Pakistani police have stepped up arrests of undocumented Afghan migrants in recent days.
This comes as Pakistan has declined to extend visas for Afghan migrants.
