The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has rejected a Taliban video alleging a plot to attack the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul, describing the confessions of individuals featured in the video as “coerced.”
In a statement on Thursday, October 8, the front described the video released by the Taliban as a “forced narrative” and part of a disinformation campaign.
The front said: “Information obtained under Taliban pressure is fundamentally unreliable, and international security institutions should treat it with serious skepticism.”
The National Resistance Front stressed that the Taliban had made a similar claim three years ago, alleging that the front had planned to target UNAMA.
The front called on UNAMA and international security institutions to conduct an independent investigation into how the video was produced and the circumstances under which the confessions were obtained.
The National Resistance Front also stressed that it does not target civilians, diplomatic and international institutions, or unarmed individuals. It described its activities as efforts to confront the Taliban and restore the rule of law.
