NRF Calls on UNAMA to Investigate Alleged Desecration of Hasib Panjshiri’s Body

Abdullah Khenjani, head of the political office of the National Resistance Front (NRF), has called on the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to investigate the Taliban’s alleged desecration of the body of Hasib Panjshiri.

Khenjani wrote on X on Sunday, August 23, that the NRF has asked UNAMA and international human rights organizations to investigate and document the alleged desecration of the body of the slain commander.

He said: “Such acts constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law, particularly Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions, and amount to a war crime.”

Hasib Panjshiri, a commander of the NRF, was killed in a Taliban ambush in northern Salang late last week.

Videos circulating online show Taliban fighters allegedly desecrating the body of the slain commander.

However, the conduct of Taliban fighters has drawn widespread condemnation both inside and outside Afghanistan.
