The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that 191 families in Nuristan province have benefited from humanitarian assistance.

OCHA said on Wednesday, August 9, that following recent floods in Bargi Matal district of Nuristan, tents, blankets, winter supplies and hygiene items had been distributed to affected families.

The agency added that timely assistance, provided in cooperation with humanitarian partners and with the support of donors, helps affected families meet their immediate and basic needs.

The assistance was distributed as Nuristan has experienced severe flooding in recent weeks, leaving several families affected by the natural disasters.

In addition to causing financial losses in parts of the province, the floods have also disrupted access for some families to shelter and necessities of life.
