Media outlets under Taliban control have reported that Pakistan carried out airstrikes on parts of Kandahar and Khost provinces early Thursday morning.
Mostaghfer Gurbaz, the Taliban-appointed governor’s spokesman in Khost, said the strikes took place at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 24.
According to him, Gulan Camp in Gurbaz district, areas near the center of Khost city, and parts of Ismail Khel and Mandozai districts were targeted in the airstrikes.
According to the report, an area in a desert region of District 9 of Kandahar city was also targeted in an airstrike.
The Taliban said the attack caused “no” damage.
Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s minister for information, has said that Pakistan carried out the strikes in retaliation for drone attacks carried out by the Taliban a day earlier, when the Taliban reportedly launched air and drone attacks against 10 locations across Afghanistan.
