The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan says it has helped women returning from Iran establish and expand businesses, enabling them to earn incomes and create employment opportunities.
The organization reported on Sunday, October 25, that women entrepreneurs in Kunduz province have expanded their businesses after receiving financial assistance, equipment, and training in business management and marketing.
According to the report, one dairy business in Kunduz now produces 400 to 500 kilograms of yogurt daily and provides employment for 12 people, including seven returnees.
The support has been provided through a project funded by Japan and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation.
Over the past five years, since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, women have faced widespread restrictions on employment and economic activities, severely limiting their job opportunities.
