Pakistani police have detained 121 Afghan nationals during an inspection operation in the city of Lahore.

Pakistani media reported on Saturday, July 18, that police released 28 Afghan nationals after verifying that they possessed valid residency documents.

According to the reports, the remaining 93 Afghan nationals, who were found without legal documentation, have been transferred to a holding center in Lahore for further legal proceedings.

The detentions come amid an increase in the arrest, deportation, and repatriation of Afghan migrants in recent months, alongside ongoing tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan.

Human rights organizations have previously warned about the mistreatment of Afghan migrants in several countries, including Iran and Pakistan, and have called for their rights to be respected.

The Taliban also said that 3,753 people returned to Afghanistan through various border crossings on the previous day.
