Local sources in Nangarhar have reported the assassination of Asad Afridi, a prominent commander of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in an aerial attack conducted by Pakistani forces within the province.
Sources revealed to Hasht-e Subh on Saturday, August 19, that the airstrike occurred around 9:00 AM last Thursday in the Rina Parchaw area of Lalpoor district in Nangarhar, near the Durand border.
The sources further confirmed that Asad Afridi’s guards were also among the casualties of this attack.
Both the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and the Pakistani government have yet to issue statements regarding this incident.
However, Pakistani media outlets have corroborated this development.
Rina Parchaw is situated in the vicinity of the Durand border and remains an active area for TTP fighters.
This incident follows another airstrike by Pakistani forces in the Khost province approximately six days ago.
