Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Bishkek, emphasized security cooperation between the two countries regarding Afghanistan.
According to the Russian Presidential Office (Kremlin), on Tuesday, September 1, Putin said that Moscow was aware of Tajikistan’s concerns about the situation in Afghanistan.
The two sides also discussed bilateral relations, economic and security cooperation, and regional and international developments.
Putin described relations between the two countries as a “strategic partnership and alliance” and reported an increase in trade between them.
According to the report, Rahmon also described bilateral relations as positive and emphasized the development of cooperation in various areas.
The Tajik president also expressed his readiness to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
Afghanistan was reportedly among the key security concerns of Tajikistan discussed during the talks.
