Rabab Fatima, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has visited the maternity emergency unit at Omari Camp in Torkham.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said on Tuesday, November 3, that during the visit, Fatima stressed the need to expand essential healthcare services for mothers.
The agency added that the UNAMA chief had reaffirmed her support for providing psychosocial services to women and adolescent girls returning to Afghanistan.
Returning women and girls, particularly mothers and pregnant women, need access to healthcare and psychosocial support services.
