The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says humanitarian partners provided at least one type of assistance to 9.3 million people in Afghanistan between January and August 2026.
In a report released on Tuesday, November 3, OCHA said 1.4 million of these people received humanitarian assistance in three or more sectors.
According to the report, 5.1 million people, representing 55 percent of all aid recipients, received food assistance.
OCHA said these figures highlight the widespread prevalence of acute food insecurity in Afghanistan, with a large share of humanitarian assistance directed toward meeting food needs.
However, OCHA said $1.2 billion, equivalent to 70 percent of the initial $1.71 billion required, remains unfunded.
The agency called for urgent funding to ensure that life-saving assistance reaches those who need it most.
