Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, has called for peace in Afghanistan and practical action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
Shehbaz Sharif said Thursday, October 8, in a message about his meeting with Guterres that the two sides discussed Pakistan’s mediation efforts, reforms at the United Nations, and the preservation of regional peace and security.
He added that Islamabad considers dialogue and diplomacy the only way to resolve disputes and prevent tensions from escalating.
This comes as Taliban officials have repeatedly denied the presence of terrorist groups on Afghan soil and said they will not allow Afghan territory to be used against neighboring countries.
