Murtaza Solangi, spokesperson for the Pakistani president, has said that if the Taliban continue to provide safe havens, training and logistical support to terrorist groups, forces for peace and stability at the regional and global levels will take action that will catch them off guard.
Solangi on Thursday, September 30, accused the Taliban of creating conditions for terrorist groups to operate and said that the “surprise” from regional and global forces might not be welcomed by them.
He called the Taliban an “illegitimate regime” and described the group as a “supporter of terrorism.”
The remarks come as Pakistan carried out airstrikes on areas in Helmand and Kunar provinces earlier on Thursday.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information previously said the strikes were carried out based on “credible intelligence” and that 22 “terrorists” were killed as a result.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban of providing shelter to armed groups. The Taliban have rejected the allegations, saying insecurity in Pakistan is an internal problem of the country.
