Local sources say decrees issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s supreme leader, are being taught to students at Kandahar University alongside Islamic subjects.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Wednesday, October 28, that university lecturers were teaching Akhundzada’s decrees in place of some material covered in Islamic studies and Islamic culture courses.
According to the sources, students have been informed that their exams will include questions about Akhundzada’s decrees in addition to questions on Islamic culture.
Students also say that the instructors teaching Islamic culture are religious scholars who support the Taliban but lack sufficient qualifications to teach the subject.
Meanwhile, another source said the Taliban’s Ministry of Higher Education had instructed public and private universities to teach Akhundzada’s decrees alongside Islamic culture material during Islamic studies classes.
According to the source, the Taliban aim to familiarize the public with their leader’s decrees and create conditions for their implementation.
