The Taliban Embassy in Tehran said that 162 convicted prisoners were transferred from Iran to Afghanistan after their identities were verified.
In a post on X on Monday, June 15, the embassy said the prisoners were transferred during the third phase of the eleventh round of the prisoner transfer committee’s operations.
According to the Taliban, a total of 735 Afghan prisoners serving sentences in Iran have been transferred to Afghanistan in three phases.
The Taliban had also announced a few days earlier the transfer of 573 Afghan prisoners from Iran to Afghanistan in two stages.
