The United Nations Population Fund in Afghanistan (UNFPA) says that access for pregnant women to health services is an undeniable necessity.
On Monday, April 6, UNFPA stated that Afghanistan has the highest maternal mortality rate in Asia.
This statement was released while the Taliban’s Morality Police in Herat have closed several sections of the province’s maternity wards.
The Taliban have warned that contraceptive pills and condoms should not be provided to women.
The World Health Organization (WHO) in Afghanistan had previously stated that health decisions should be based on scientific guidance.
