Local sources in Kunduz province say Taliban fighters continue to demolish people’s homes despite a stop order issued by the group’s own court.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Tuesday, May 19, that the Taliban court had issued an order several days ago to halt the demolitions, but the group’s fighters have continued the destruction without regard for that ruling.
A document obtained by the Hasht-e Subh Daily also confirms that the Taliban issued a stop order for the demolition of people’s homes, yet individuals affiliated with the group are disregarding even the rulings of their own courts.
Previously, residents of the “Sherkat-ha-ye Dawlati” area in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province had complained about the Taliban seizure and demolition of their homes and shops.
According to sources, certain individuals had provided maps of people’s homes and shops to local Taliban authorities to facilitate the construction of a township in the area.
In recent years, following the Taliban’s takeover, reports from several provinces across Afghanistan indicate that the seizure of people’s land and homes has been on the rise.
Citizens of the country say that in many instances, individuals affiliated with the Taliban have seized or demolished private properties without reviewing ownership documents or following any legal procedures.
This situation has generated widespread concern among the citizens of the country over the loss of their homes and lands.
