Reports from local sources indicate that Abdullah Ahmadi, a journalist based in Kunduz Province, has been detained by Taliban forces.
According to reliable information obtained by Hasht-e Subh Daily, Ahmadi was apprehended on Sunday, March 24th, while covering a meeting at the “Municipality Hotel” in Kunduz.
Abdullah Ahmadi serves as a journalist for the private television channel One.
Sources reveal that along with Ahmadi, three other journalists were also detained by Taliban intelligence on the same day. However, they were subsequently released after undergoing several hours of interrogation.
The Afghanistan Journalists Center recently highlighted the significant challenges faced by media personnel and journalists across the nation. They emphasized that journalists’ freedom and their fundamental legal rights are under severe constraint, with numerous reported violations.
In the recorded instances of violations during the year 1402 AH, the center documented at least 139 cases involving infringements upon the rights of media workers and journalists. These violations included 80 reported instances of threats and 59 cases of journalists being subjected to detention.
