Sources in Paktia province say an employee of the Taliban’s Directorate of Agriculture in the province was killed by unidentified gunmen.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, October 1, that the incident occurred the previous day in the vicinity of Ahmadabad district.
The sources added that the Taliban employee, identified as Akhtar Mohammad, had previously worked for the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
Various provinces and districts across Afghanistan have recently witnessed an increase in security incidents, as well as targeted and mysterious killings.
In some of these incidents, unidentified gunmen have targeted civilians and government employees, while the identities and motives of the perpetrators have remained unclear in several cases.
