A disturbing incident has emerged from Faryab province, where a Taliban fighter coerced a 13-year-old girl into a marriage with his own brother-in-law, using the ominous threat of a firearm.
The harrowing episode, captured on video and brought to light by Hasht-e Subh on Saturday, August 5th, exposes a sinister act committed by a Taliban member in the Dawlat-Abad district of Faryab province. This fighter, through the use of weaponized intimidation, orchestrated a forced marriage between the young girl and his brother-in-law.
Disturbingly, when women raised their voices in protest against this grave violation of human rights, they faced life-threatening ultimatums from the armed forces aligned with the Taliban.
The mother of the victimized young girl pleads with the Taliban’s officials to take immediate action against such arbitrary and forceful actions perpetrated by their ranks.
While the Taliban officials in Faryab have maintained conspicuous silence on the matter, an unnamed local Taliban official did acknowledge, “We are informed about this incident.”
It is essential to note that this incident is not an isolated occurrence. Similar abhorrent acts have previously surfaced, as seen in the recent event where a Taliban governor in Laghman province arranged the marriage of an underage girl under the pretext of monetary compensation.
