The Taliban have announced that heavy rainfall and flash floods in parts of Mandol district of Nuristan province have caused significant financial losses to residents of the district.
The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency reported on Monday, July 20, that the floods caused no casualties but inflicted extensive financial damage on local people.
Faridun Samim, the Taliban-appointed spokesperson for the governor of Nuristan, confirmed the damages suffered by residents and said that the extent of the losses is currently being assessed and evaluated.
According to the report, following the incident, six residential houses, a power network in the Janakhel area, a watermill, a road, agricultural lands, and orchards were destroyed.
This comes as severe floods in various parts of Afghanistan in recent months have caused widespread damage to homes, agricultural lands, and infrastructure, affecting thousands of people.
