US President Donald Trump has said that further attacks on Iran could take place after next week’s midterm elections.

Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, October 28, that Trump said the timing of the end of the war with Iran would depend on his own decision.

On Tuesday, Trump also described the short-term ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran as a “waste of time,” saying he had never been particularly supportive of the deal.

Speaking about the war with Iran, he added: “It just depends on when I want it to end.”

Tensions between Iran and the United States escalated into a full-scale military conflict on February 28, 2026, following US and Israeli attacks on Iran.

Iran retaliated by targeting Israeli positions and US bases across the region.

Despite a temporary ceasefire brokered by Pakistan on April 8, efforts to reach a lasting agreement have failed.
