Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Taliban governor of Herat, has attended a funeral ceremony for the victims of Deh Miri village, even though a week has passed and the perpetrators of the shooting of civilians have not yet been identified.
The Taliban media office in Herat reported on Sunday, April 19, that Islamjar claimed during the ceremony that the perpetrators of the killing of civilians in Deh Miri village in Injil district of Herat would be punished.
Islamjar stated: “Creating insecurity and shedding the blood of our fellow citizens, whether Shia or Sunni, is absolutely wrong and goes against the orders of Islamic Sharia.”
After a week, no group has claimed responsibility for the shooting in Deh Miri village, and the Taliban have remained silent on the incident.
Last week, motorcycle-riding attackers opened fire on civilians, mostly Shia residents, killing around 11 people and injuring several others.
Residents of Herat have protested the incident and demanded security measures.
