The Taliban-run National Statistics and Information Authority has claimed that 1,066,067 people have received electronic ID cards over the past six months.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the authority said that 804,789 of these ID cards were issued to men and 261,278 to women.
The highest number of ID cards was distributed in the provinces of Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Nangarhar, and Balkh.
According to the Taliban, since the launch of the electronic ID distribution program, more than 16 million people across the country have received their cards.
This comes as the Taliban have increased the issuance fee for electronic ID cards from 100 afghanis to 500 afghanis.
