US President Donald Trump has said he must stop killing Iranian leaders to determine whom to negotiate with, while reiterating that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
The Anadolu Agency reported on Sunday, October 25, that Trump made the remarks on Saturday during a campaign rally in the state of Georgia.
Trump said at the rally that Iran’s senior leaders had been eliminated, making it difficult to determine whom to negotiate with in Tehran.
In another part of his speech, the US president defended his 2018 decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.
Trump said the agreement would have paved the way for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, describing his withdrawal as a timely move to prevent that possibility.
He also claimed that US forces had completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities through military operations.
