The Taliban have announced that a contract for the reconstruction of 15 kilometers of road in southern Salang, worth 1.252 billion Afghani, has been signed with a private company.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works said on Tuesday, June 23, that the agreement was signed by Mullah Mohammad Esa Thani, the Taliban’s Minister of Public Works, with the private company “Mubarez Barakzai.”
According to the statement, the road reconstruction project on the Salang Highway will start from the “Olang” area and end in the Jabal Siraj district of Parwan province.
The ministry said the road will be 15 kilometers long and 12 meters wide after reconstruction.
This comes as, in recent years, the Taliban have repeatedly announced the start of reconstruction work on the Salang Highway, while drivers and passengers have consistently complained about its poor condition.
