Sources say students at Kabul University have been evicted from the university’s dormitories for nearly a week.
Several Kabul University students confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, November 8, that they were evicted from their rooms at night by Taliban officials at the university nearly a week ago.
According to sources, some of the students have been transferred to the dormitories of Kabul Polytechnic University, while others have moved into rented rooms in Kabul.
Meanwhile, sources say a large gathering of clerics who support the Taliban is scheduled to take place at Kabul University later this month.
According to the sources, the gathering aims to review and implement decrees issued by Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s leader, as well as the group’s Law on the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and a book titled Aqidah Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah, attributed to the group’s leader.
Sources say Taliban officials have invited clerics who support the group from all provinces across the country. They added that students were evicted to allow for the renovation and repainting of dormitory rooms and to accommodate the visiting clerics.
The students have been displaced from their accommodation just as they are approaching their final semester exams. Sources say being moved away from the university has created significant difficulties for them.
