Some students at Takhar University say the Taliban’s head of the Department of Invitation and Guidance urged students at the university to practice their religion.
The students told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, October 24, that the Taliban official made the remarks during a meeting at the university.
Some students alleged that the Taliban member described all students as “irreligious.”
According to the students, he urged them to practice their religion even though many of them consider themselves more religious than he is.
The meeting at Takhar University was reportedly held to discuss clothing and beard styles.
The Taliban have sought to impose their own interpretation of religion and religious practice on Afghan society over the past five years.
