The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged Washington to carry out its planned deportation of Afghan asylum seekers responsibly.
In a statement on Monday, November 2, the Taliban said third countries should not turn citizens of other countries into bargaining tools in exchange for temporary benefits or for other reasons.
The Taliban foreign ministry claimed that the group was ready to engage in constructive talks with Washington on the matter, based on mutual understanding.
The remarks came after the US government announced plans to deport more than 150 Afghan asylum seekers to Afghanistan.
The New York Times reported on Friday that the first flight carrying the migrants could take place on Monday.
The asylum seekers are expected to be transferred to Afghanistan via Pakistan, as the United States has no diplomatic relations with the Taliban administration and cannot return them directly to Afghanistan.
