TAPI project officials have announced that the TAPI gas pipeline has reached the outskirts of Herat city, and efforts are underway to extend it into the city and to the industrial park of the province.
Mohammad Murad Amanov, director general of the TAPI project, met with Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Taliban governor of Herat, on Wednesday, September 30, to discuss preparations for extending the pipeline into Herat city.
During the meeting, Islamjar expressed satisfaction over the pipeline reaching the outskirts of Herat city and stressed the local administration’s cooperation in implementing the project.
Amanov also said that TAPI project officials are working to take the necessary steps to extend the gas pipeline to Herat city and the province’s industrial park.
The TAPI project is more than 1,800 kilometers long, with more than 820 kilometers of the pipeline passing through Afghanistan.
According to statistics, Afghanistan will receive between 500 million and 1.5 billion cubic meters of TAPI gas annually in three phases.
Afghanistan will also earn around $400 million annually from the transit of TAPI gas to Pakistan and India.
