The Washington Post reports that Chinese private companies have begun buying and selling data on the movements of U.S. forces and their equipment using artificial intelligence.
The newspaper reported on Saturday night, April 4, that Chinese private companies are monitoring the behavior of U.S. forces by combining artificial intelligence technology with open-source data, and are selling this information.
Ryan Fedasiuk, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, told the newspaper that Chinese companies purchase large volumes of imagery from Chinese satellites, such as the Jilin constellation.
The use of satellites such as the Jilin constellation enables Chinese companies to obtain high-resolution imagery and up-to-date information from sensitive areas.
