U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed concern that Iran could target American cities.
Axios reported early Wednesday, October 7, that Trump described this as a price worth paying for U.S. security.
According to the report, Trump said on Tuesday that the financial cost of the war with Iran for Americans is a price worth paying to preserve the security of the United States.
Although Trump’s remarks have drawn negative reactions, the U.S. federal government has for years provided assistance to high-risk urban areas to help identify radiological and nuclear materials that could potentially be used in an attack.
He said: “It’s a small price to pay for the security of the world and the security of our country. They could destroy a city. Let them destroy it… Let them destroy Los Angeles. Let them destroy San Diego. This… this is a very small price to pay, and this will be over very soon.”
Meanwhile, indirect talks between Iran and the United States to end the war, which began seven months ago, have so far failed to produce any tangible results.
