Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has claimed that without him, Israel would not exist today.
Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, June 3, that Trump rejected claims that Benjamin Netanyahu had influenced him to start a war with Iran.
Trump stated that the decision to act against Iran was entirely his own and that he made it to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
He also accused his political opponents, saying they do not have a proper understanding of the situation.
The U.S. president added that his concerns about Iran’s nuclear program date back to his first term in office.
Trump said, “This also concerns Israel, because Israel could have been the first target. I am telling you, if it were not for me, there would be no Israel right now.”
This comes as tensions between Iran and the United States remain unresolved. Trump had previously expressed a desire to meet with Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of Iran.
