U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened that the U.S. military would completely destroy Iran if Tehran attempts to assassinate him.
According to Al Jazeera, on Saturday, July 11, Trump made the remarks in a post on his Truth Social account.
Trump warned that if Iran attempted to kill him, “thousands” of missiles would be launched toward Iran.
He said: “The orders have already been given, and the United States military is ready, willing, and able to completely destroy and annihilate all of Iran for a period of one year, which can be extended.”
The threats come as Iranian threats against Trump and other U.S. officials have continued since the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of Iran’s Quds Force, in a U.S. strike ordered by Trump in 2020.
