The Taliban say that two children died and three others were rescued after five people fell into a water reservoir.
Sayed Tayeb Hamad, spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Nangarhar, said in a statement on Wednesday, September 16, that the incident occurred in the Industrial Parks area of Surkh Rod district in Nangarhar province.
He said that one child initially fell into the water reservoir, and others jumped into the water to rescue the child.
Hamad added that a six-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy died in the incident.
Three others, aged three, six and 14, were rescued from the incident.
The spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Nangarhar said that those rescued were taken to hospital for treatment and that their health condition was satisfactory.
