U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has called for a full arms embargo on Israel, referring to the Israeli election and describing the candidates as “war criminals.”
In a post on X early Tuesday, October 27, Tlaib wrote that regardless of who becomes Israel’s prime minister, Palestinians would continue to face genocide, land theft and destruction.
She said Americans should not accept what she described as their leaders’ “lies, excuses and half-measures” regarding Israel and Palestine.
“Regardless of which war criminal becomes prime minister, Palestinians living under Israeli apartheid will continue to face genocide, land theft and erasure. We cannot accept our leaders’ lies, excuses or half-measures. We must impose a full arms embargo and sanctions until Palestine is free,” Tlaib wrote.
Her remarks come as Israel prepares to hold parliamentary elections on Tuesday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking re-election against an opposition bloc led by former military chief Gadi Eisenkot.
