The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a fire aboard a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, near the coast of Oman.

Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported on Thursday, October 29, that the incident occurred in the northern sea area near Khasab, Oman. A vessel’s master reported seeing a craft on fire.

No information has yet been released about the type of vessel involved, the condition of its crew, or the extent of any potential damage.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s key routes for oil shipments and maritime trade. However, vessel traffic through the waterway is currently facing restrictions and difficulties.
