The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan says it has established 35 climate-resilient greenhouses for farmers in central Afghanistan.
UNDP said on Thursday, September 24, that the greenhouses have provided employment opportunities for 225 people, including 105 women.
The greenhouses use water-efficient technologies and smart water-management practices to help increase agricultural production.
According to UNDP, these technologies reduce water consumption and protect crops from extreme weather events.
The programme said the initiative will help produce agricultural products throughout the year, strengthen food security and provide more sustainable income for families.
The agency said it is supporting thousands of farmers across Afghanistan to increase production and address challenges caused by climate change.
