UN Women has announced that $1.7 million has been allocated to provide financial support to around 1,500 Afghan women entrepreneurs over the next year.
UN Women reported on Monday, September 28, that the investment will be made as part of a joint initiative with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Under the programme, women entrepreneurs will receive financial support and business development services.
The programme will also include financial and digital literacy training, counselling, business planning, and support to access markets.
UN Women said the initiative will indirectly benefit more than 14,000 people by strengthening businesses, increasing household incomes, and expanding economic activities.
