The United Nations has praised the efforts and commitment of teachers around the world to educating future generations on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day.

The UN said in a message on Monday, October 5, that teachers play an important role in shaping the future of new generations and that their efforts should be supported and appreciated.

World Teachers’ Day is being observed in Afghanistan as teachers face various challenges, including a decline in the number of female teachers and the need for professional training and support.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) previously warned in a report that the ban on female teachers teaching at boys’ schools in Afghanistan has further worsened the shortage of teachers.

According to UNESCO, the decline in the number of female teachers in Afghan schools is undermining the quality of education for all students.
