The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that families displaced by the earthquake in Afghanistan need warmth and shelter as winter approaches.
The organization said on Monday, January 26, on its X page that its teams are present on the ground to assess the needs of families and provide urgent and essential assistance.
Previously, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) had also announced that heavy snowfall had made the situation of children in earthquake-affected areas, which was already dire, even more difficult.
This comes as low temperatures and the harsh winter cold threaten the lives of affected families, and without access to shelter and heating supplies, living conditions for them are extremely difficult.
Taliban-controlled media had also reported earlier that following recent snowfall and rains in 15 provinces, 61 people have lost their lives and 110 others have been injured.
