The United Nations Security Council Sanctions Committee has updated information related to four other Taliban members on its sanctions list.
The United Nations Security Council announced this update in a statement on Monday, April 13.
The updated information includes Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister; Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the prime minister; Abdul Ghani Baradar, his economic deputy; and Hedayatullah Badri, the group’s minister of mines and petroleum.
Although these individuals were already on the sanctions list, new information regarding their identities and official documents has been added.
The United Nations Security Council Sanctions Committee has listed Taliban officials under UN Security Council Resolution 1988.
The committee also published a list of 22 Taliban officials in the month of February, whose information had been updated.
The sanctions mainly target Taliban ministers, and they cannot travel to other countries without the permission of the United Nations Security Council.
United Nations Security Council sanctions are imposed on individuals who are involved in violence, supply weapons, recruit fighters, or support activities that threaten peace and stability in Afghanistan.
