As part of World Water Week, the United Nations Office in Geneva has warned that the world will face a 40 percent shortage of freshwater by 2030.
The office said on Wednesday, August 26, that continuing current patterns of water consumption and resource management increases the risk of worsening water scarcity and the emergence of a global water crisis.
To prevent the crisis from worsening, the United Nations has called on countries to accelerate urgent measures to ensure universal access to water and improve water management.
This comes as the global water crisis continues to worsen, putting millions of people at risk of water shortages.
